You can create a hierarchical organisation model in Essential to describe the organisational structure and also to create relationships with many other parts of the model.
For example, Organisations can be used to:
- Perform a Business Process
- Own an Application
- Be a stakeholder in Data Governance
The organisation is defined in the Business Physical Layer in the Group Actor class. You can create the hierarchy by adding the parent/child relationships. You can also identify specific business roles that the organisation performs and the site where the organisation is based. You can also capture whether the organisation is internal or external, which is useful when you have services provided by outsourced or partner organisations.
