Business Capability Model Herm

EAS are delighted to announce that we have collaborated with the Higher Education Reference Models (HERM) community to make these valuable assets available freely and at no cost to all Essential clients and open-source users.

HERM is used by  higher education establishments across the globe to provide standardised business, application, and data architectures that communicate a generalised view of how higher education institutions are organised and the information they use.

These resources can be used by institutions within higher education in a variety of ways, such as a starter kit to accelerate an institution’s digital transformation, business and data architecture, and provide a reference point from which to explore commonalities and differentiators for the institution, and a communication tool to engage colleagues, executives, and collaborators.

EA teams can now utilise the HERM models in Essential to visualise the landscape, highlight opportunities and provide a clear roadmap of delivery to address their challenges.  An EA Tool is an enabler to cutting through the noise and understanding how the EA Team can support an institution in its efforts to, for example, increase student enrolment and retention, provide a tailored learning and engagement landscape to students, or utilise AI in its learning experience.

As part of our continued support for the higher education community, EAS are proud to co-host the Essential Higher Education User Group, chaired by EAs from New York University and the University of Sydney.  The group meets monthly to collaborate and explore various aspects of Enterprise Architecture (EA) in the context of higher education.  Contact us to find out more about the group.
