Technology Node Summary
3 min
The technology node summary brings together the key information about the technology node itself, so we can see a summary as to where the node is hosted, the deployment technology the node is using , key information about the node ownership, the node the technology stack the node uses and the attributes associated with the node.
The tabs will only show if there’s information.
We can capture stakeholders by using the stakeholders slot.
The dependencies node allows you to show dependencies between nodes using the technology node inbound connections or technology node outbound connections slots that are available on the technology node class (note this came in 6.20 release)
The instances tab shows application software, infrastructure software and information store instances. Application software instances are specific deployments applications, your anchor these off the application deployments themselves, so an application deployment will have an associated application software instance which is deployed to a technology node. It’s a similar pattern for infrastructure software components so think of this as the software product(s) being deployed that does not provide business application functionality, but is required, e.g. OS software, database software, etc.
Finally, the information stores instances are deployments of information stores, e.g. databases to support applications, but will have dependencies on other technology instances, e.g. a prices database – information stores instances – will be dependent on the deployment of database software (e.g. SQL Server) via the infrastructure software instance and the is dependent upon technology instances slot.
