Hi kxp,
Have you any experience with the Essential Project already? Did you try running the Standalone version? That's a good place to start before trying the multi-user version.
If you already have some experience with Essential and want to proceed with the multi-user version can you let us know the following:
What OS are you installing Essential onto? Windows, macOS, Linux (which flavour?)
In the multi-user guide, which step are you stuck at?
The more information you can provide here (screenshots, etc) the better. It will help us guide you.
Thanks
Neil

For the Tomcat users file, this page might help
https://examples.javacodegeeks.com/java ... n-example/
Modifying this file is an optional installation step thought.
Regarding the next bit, I'm not sure exactly where you're stuck. You'll need to be more detailed in explaining the issues you are experiencing.
The spirit of this section, is you need to open the metaproject file in Protege. This is located inside the Protege install folder:
[PROTEGE INSTALL]/examples/server/metaproject.pprj
Then browse in Protege to PolicyControlledObject > Project > Essential AM Repository
In the Location slot, enter the path to your repository project file (PPRJ) that you wish to use. This could be an empty Essential baseline repository downloaded from our site or a project you already have some data in.
Hopefully that's enough to help you progress. I'll just reiterate that the multi-user installation is not the best place to start for new users of Essential. The setup is quite complex and assumes you have some working knowledge of Essential in single user / standalone mode.
Let me know how you get on.
