Null Pointer Exception while importing in Essential Launchpad

We can't replicate this yet, as a workaround you can do this.
Instead of creating a Test Import:
1) Click Generate Import File
2) Once complete, click Download DUP file
3) Go to Protege, save your repository
4) Open the Essential Update Tab
5) Click the choose button and select the DUP file
6) Click Apply Update (you can check the Detailed Progress box for more messages if you like)
7) Publish, check your data
8) If all is OK then save your repository, if not OK then reload your saved repository, fix your import and do the process again
