i have a question that i havent stumbled across yet. In our organization diferrent roles maintain application information, business processes and business capabilities. Additionally some maintenance is additionally constrained by the business domain a person may work in. Is the protege ontology editor configurable with role and user level security?

Hi Tim,

apologies for the delay in getting back to you. In short, Protege does not currently support fine-grained user/role-based access control (see Jonathan's post here for a more detailed explanation).

However, we are looking into alternative options to support this kind of approach using Essential's integration capabilities - for example, providing specially designed spreadsheets to users responsible for maintaining specific areas of the repository (automating its import and export). In addition to the benefit of separating concerns, we have found this approach particularly useful when dealing with less technical EA content owners that may find using the Protege client more challenging than others.

We are still in the testing stages as far the integration-based approach is concerned, and are always keen to identify new use cases and requirements in this area and so any further comments or questions would be welcomed.
