Hi Community, nice to be a part of the group :).

I'm struggling with application logical modeling, in particular Application Functions. I'm trying to understand the difference between "Supports Business Process" field and "Automates Business Process" field.

Can you help me?

Thank you

Nicholas.

Hi,

It really about fidelity. Think of the 'Supports Business Process' field as being where a user is interacting with a system as part of the business process and the 'Automates Business Process' field as being where the system is doing the work that a human could do. Most people stick with using 'Support Business Process' as it provides enough information and, currently, we don't have any publicly available views that use the 'Automates Business Process'.

However, we are looking to push out (no timescale) some Process Automation views that highlight where processes can be or are automated, which will make use of the 'Automates Business Process' field.

Hope that makes sense

Welcome on board.

Hi John,

Your explanation makes everything clearer. I got well the difference between the two fields, in fact it was to be taken literally.
Thank you very much!

Nicholas.
