We have captured business capabilities and the link till applications.

We were able to see the view. Now we have a need to maintain another set of Business Capabilities for Future State.

How to achieve the same

Hi Rajaraman,

It is a reasonably straightforward task to assign Business Capabilities to Architecture States (e.g. Current State, Future State) in your repository. As shown in the diagram below.

Bus Cap Arch States.png

Here you can see that Business Capability 1, Business Capability 2 and Business Capability 3 exist in Architecture State 1 (Current) but that in Architecture State 2 (Target), only Business Capability 2, Business Capability 3 and Business Capability 4 exist. In other words, when we reach the target state, Business Capability 1 will have been removed and Business Capability 4 will have been added

Please note however that, at present, the out-of-the-box Business Reference Model does not currently take Architecture States into consideration and so will display all Business Capabilities defined as children of your root capability, irrespective of the Architecture States to which they are related. This will also be the case for any Applications that are mapped to the Business Capabilities. However, we are currently in the process of making all relevant views "strategy aware" (i.e. able to display changes based on Architecture States and Strategic Plans). This will naturally include the Business Reference Model.

Regards,

Jason

thanks for the response.

Can you show screen shots (mock up atleast) about how it looks for the existing views like the below in context?

1. IT Asset Dashboard.
2. Application Reference Model
3. Technology Reference Model
4. Business Reference Model

Hi,

The views look the same, however they show data depending on what roadmap state or timeline you are looking at. As a sneak preview of part of it (it's in test and may change slightly look and feel wise) see the attached which opens above the views.

Yes, the slider will be above the views and shows the view as it looks at the roadmap point you select

Hi,

Bumping up this old thread. Is this feature available now on essential viewer 6.10?

Thanks
