I did think independent view development might be a suitable semi-retirement opportunity when the time comes, but the (lack of) responses to the post convinces me there is not enough demand to sustain even a part time independent.

Re: Feedback on V7 new 'sliding' view style
Agree this is very engaging and has promise for being able to elegantly organise an overview and drill down together. I'll add my vote for closing the slider by clicking where the pointer already is, rather than racing around the large screen and back - I really want to be able to explore the inform...

Value Stage class structure
Hi, I am setting up some new data in Essential for value streams and value stages. I see the value stage class is defined with each instance name derived from the value stream, index, and label for the value stage. However the label slot is not set as a string entry, rather as an instance of separat...

Re: Querying raw data in the underlying metamodel database
Interesting, it seems no longer to show out-of-the-box. My mistake, sorry. To make it appear, you need to associate the report with the support tab. Using the capture UI, navigate to the Report class ( under EA Support, then Essential Viewer), and select the report instance Core: Integration Applica...

Re: Querying raw data in the underlying metamodel database
Just for completeness - you can write custom views that produce CSV output for manual import to Excel. Not as elegant as the API route, and you still need to know the structure to retrieve the slots in the custom view. There is one product view that does this for a couple of slots, as an example - '...

Re: Deleting business capabilities which has no link (i.e parent)
Sorry, no screenshots, but step by step: (Assuming you are using Protege) 1) You need the Forms tab. Select the Business Capability form from the left hand pane (in the navigation tree under Business Conceptual, as it is for regular Instance editing) 2) At the top left of the right hand pane you sho...

Re: Deleting business capabilities which has no link (i.e parent)
If you are comfortable adjusting the editor configuration, you could edit the business capability class to change the display layout so that instances are listed by parent capability and then name. Then the orphans will be at the top of the list of capabilities (having a blank parent capability), an...

Re: How to model integration architecture?
Hi, I'm testing moving our APIs defined as Application_Providers to the new Application_Provider_Interface, and I've noticed the standard views (eg core_al_app_provider_info_deps_model.xsl) don't use the new class (I can't find any reference to the new class in any view). As it happens we have a cus...

Cloud viewer identity
Is there a way for a view report to know which viewer it is running in (1, 2 or 3 - or their configured names)? Probably wouldn't actually need it in a report, but would definitely like to configure it on to the portal header to visually confirm which viewer is being used.

Took some lateral thinking for me to find this - the grab handle doesn't appear for me on IE, but does appear if I use Chrome.
Thanks

Model UI layout
In the open source client, Portege allows layout of text / multi instance areas to be different sizes. Is there equivalent capability in cloud UI layout? I only seem to get a default size for multiple instances / multiple text lines that assumes 2/3 lines or entries.

Re: New views in Essential Cloud
I have had reasonable success reviewing the library of open source views / reports - they work identically on the cloud version, and there are lots of examples from which to find relevant snippets.

Re: Static Application Provider Architecture without xxxUsage?
I've just discovered my modeling through static architectures was leading to duplicate data flows, and this article confirms that if application A shares information with application B, defining that dependency in the static architecture of both creates a duplicate. (Which isn't visible in '3 col mo...

Re: Can't see Essential Architecture Report tab.
I couldn't see that tab at the time. Subsequent retracing of my install steps showed I installed Portege twice (second time not as Admin), but Essential only once - so I needed to copy the Essential plugins to the second Portege install. At which point the tab became visible, and publishing worked. ...

Re: Can't see Essential Architecture Report tab.
I have the same problem on day 2 of getting to grips with Essential - I can't see the reporting tab. It doesn't appear on the list of possible tabs under project->configure. I can access the viewer and see the canned initial report set on default model, but can't see how to get my model updates to t...
